Getting Started with GoodProspects

When you join GoodProspects, you can engage online with people who are like you, exploring careers that will put you on the path to personal fulfillment and independence, as well as financial stability. You’ll also gain access to valuable advice and guidance from career mentors. Follow the simple instructions below to start participating in the conversations!
Joining GoodProspects
First, set up an email account if you don’t already have one. Then, become a member of the GoodProspects community simply by filling in the boxes in the ‘Register’ section on the main page, then click on the ‘Register’ button at the bottom of the form. Next, you will be asked to tell the community members a little more about yourself and your career interests. This part is optional. When you finish this section, select the ‘Complete My Registration’ tab. Congratulations! You are now a member of the GoodProspects community!

Creating your GoodProspects Profile
Your profile is the place where you can enter information about yourself and a photo or ‘avatar,’ so other members of the site can get to know a little bit about you. It’s also where you can join groups or view the groups you belong to, and check on messages from other members on the site.
At the top of the GoodProspects site, you will see a ‘My Profile’ link on the left. Click on this link to add to or edit your information.
Joining a GoodProspects Career Path Group
GoodProspects Career Path groups discuss the unique benefits, challenges and steps to success for career explorers in a certain field. To join a group and start benefiting from online discussions among your peers and mentors about different careers, select the My Profile link. Add the groups that focus on your career exploration interests, or remove the ones you no longer wish to participate in.
Participating in a GoodProspects Online Discussion
After you log in to GoodProspects, select the ‘Groups’ tab just below the picture of the compass. The career interest groups you belong to are listed on this page. Click on the one you are interested in discussing, and you will go to the main page for this group. There, the discussions are listed by title or topic.
Click on the title of the discussion that interests you, and you will see all of the conversations that have occurred regarding that title. You can also enter your comments or questions about the topic.
Basic Rules for Participating in a GoodProspects Online Discussion
- Be appropriate. Comments with obscene, explicit, sexist, racist or otherwise derogatory language or images will be deleted.
- Be polite. Comments containing personal attacks, insults or threats will be deleted.
- Be honest. Potentially libelous comments will be deleted.
- Don’t ‘spam.’ Comments advertising or promoting commercial products and services will be deleted.
